As a result of my IDEL studies, I undertook an experiment to try and get to the ‘top’ of the Linkedin rankings for ‘Professionals like you’. I did it. It had no impact on my business. However, this week, a colleague was, out of the blue, offered a brilliant opportunity out of the blue via Linkedin. So, my guilt has returned. As a ‘words’ person, I don’t fully exploit the multimedia potential of digital spaces . Others are just brilliant at it. Since I started teaching in 1999, the range of skills and aptitudes which are taught within ‘digital literacy’ has expanded significantly: knowing how to fully exploit the range of communication media is part of becoming literate within a digital culture.
