  1. From my experience the collection of data analytics within university is very much a chicken and egg scenario. Educators who seek the data don’t necessarily know what they actually want to ask. Similarly they don’t always know what data about students to gather. So they usually just gather a lot of data (over a long period) and wait for trends to emerge. This means that there is a lot of room open for interpretation and much is still obscured even after data has been collected on student behaviour and activity as trends usually take some time to manifest.

    Recent analytics exercise has now become focused on results specifically and early identification of performance but the bigger kinds of overall analysis still exist and require alot of investigation, correction, adjustment and auditing by data scientists and professionals before it yields any tangible results.
