In some later posts this week I pick up on this issue of ill-positioned online adverts, a running news story this week. But one thing I’ve picked up from this block in the course is the pervasive, everyday nature of algorithms. Nonetheless, would this be a story of the same quality if adverts were simply ill-positioned, rather than also profitable for those the advertisers would not like to fund?
